E2E Parents

What is Entry to Employment (E2E)?

E2E is a learning programme which aims to help young people get the skills they need to make progress into education, employment or training. An E2E programme looks at each young person's individual needs, sets personal targets and provides support as they work to achieve their goals. E2E offers a fresh approach to providing young people with the help they need to find their way forward in life.

How will it help?

NCL paulThe individual is at the heart of E2E. All of the activities, from training to work placements, are designed to meet their needs. If they don't need it, they don't do it. E2E gives young people the training, education and skills they need to enter the world of work.

Who is E2E for?

E2E is for young people have left school but are not yet 19 and who are not already employed, at college or in training. A young person between the ages of 19 and 24 may still be able to join E2E. They should contact Connexions Tyne and Wear for more advice.

Will young people on E2E get paid?

Yes. Young people on E2E can receive a weekly Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), full travel expenses and childcare expenses if needed. Special bonuses of up to £125 are also available to reward young people who have worked hard or made a special effort.

What's on offer?

Young people develop skills and experience on E2E. This could include support with personal development, arranging work placements, helping them find a job, developing basic skills like reading and writing and access to short course like first aid and health and safety. Taster sessions are also available. These sessions give exposure to different careers opportunities that are open to young people.

What kind of support is available?

E2E helps young people on a one to one basis, in small groups, in group activities or in the workplace. Each young person will also have a Connexions Personal Adviser and an E2E Key Worker who will support them through their programme and after it has finished. Progress is reviewed every month giving the young person a chance to meet with key workers and advisers and decide how things are going.

How long does an E2E programme last?

An E2E programme takes as long as the individual needs it to. The length of time which a young person spends on E2E will be agreed between them, their Connexions Personal Adviser and their learning provider.

How do you get started on E2E?

Connexions Tyne and Wear will help each individual to decide what they want to do with their life and whether E2E is a good option for them.
